I have been Mandy's friend for nearly 40 years - we first met at Ridlins running track - there are so many stories over the years that I could say but one comes into mind always immediately and me and Mandy would always laugh about it to this day - Mandy and me and our brothers (Roy and Ray) would go to St Michaels School on a Monday night to do circuit training and on our way home would be a little bit mischevious and play 'knock down ginger' which is basically knocking on someone's door and running away (I know how annoying) we would do this every week at the same house because it was an end of terrace and so easy to escape. However, one week the owner was waiting for us ..... and as we went to knock he opened the door and chased us - as it was only round the corner of mine and Roys parents Mandy and Ray thought it would be safe to run to there - but for me and Roy we would rather face the irate man than our dad ! so we ran in the opposite direction and Mandy and Ray sought the protection of our dad - eventually me and Roy ventured home to find our dad placating a very angry man with Mandy and Ray hiding behind him - luckily my dad made us all apologise and hence to say we never did it again - and me and Roy were grounded for a long time ! And told us not to lead Mandy and Ray astray again because he knew what lovely kids they were. And said he would not mention it again and would not tell Len and Molly xxxx Throughout the years we did lose touch but got together again a few years on and worked together at Heathcote and once again became firm friends. I was so lucky to have a friend like Mandy and one thing that I will always remember her for (apart from her wicked laugh and sense of humour) but she introduced me to the Thesauras which I still use today to write reports - I have looked so much in this book to find a word for Mandy to describe and say how I feel - many of Mandy's friends have already used the words I think are so right like brave, inspirational, funny, and so many more - however I realised the word I was looking for was not in the Thesauras it was Mandy - that really says it all - I will miss you so much Mandy xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
